The Positive Side
There is, as one might expect, a huge amount of punditry going on right now. With an economic crisis going on right in the middle of a presidential campaign home stretch you would expect nothing less. It’s getting more and more difficult to find positive reporting or commentary on the McCain/Palin campaign. Given that, let me point to an article from Hugh Hewitt.
The piece is positive, informed and well reasoned. I had wanted to link several pieces with a positive take on the McCain campaign, but this is the only one I could find. I think that’s unfortunate. While the negative side is important, in fact critical to my eyes, it is important to point up the positive side of McCain. It’s not enough to explain why people should not vote for Obama. We also have to explain why people should vote for McCain.
I know it’s the McCain campaign that should do that, but right now they’re not doing a very good job at it. McCain doesn’t have to give in to the anger of the people at his rallies, but he does have to address the reasons for it. If he thinks a President Obama is not a scary thing for Traditional Americans like me he’s sadly mistaken. Barack Obama is a radical socialist. That’s a fact supported by his entire political and professional history. If that is not scary as hell to someone with McCain’s history of service to this country then there is a problem.
Senator MCain, Barack Obama represents the same type of political and economic regime you fought in Viet Nam. It’s the same political ideals that produced the Hanoi Hilton which you know all to well. Perhaps it’s going a bit to far to think that sort of thing could happen here, but there are too many of us out here who believe that is exactly what is happening to ignore or leave unaddressed. So please stay positive, but don’t forget millions of us believe that a President Obama represents the most dire threat to America since 1945. We’ll fight to keep our freedom against any enemy, foreign or domestic. I know it’s a hard balance to strike, but you don’t have any time left. The enemy is at the gate.
