I’d call that an in the park home run. She didn’t knock it into the cheap seats, but she did knock Joe Biden into the bleachers once or twice. Don’t get me wrong, Biden did a pretty good job, but at the end of the day the only thing he can be grateful for is the cleanliness of his clock. Unlike previous debates, no one I’ve heard yet on either side has tried to characterize this as anything but a win for Sarah Palin, though one guy did say he thought it was a tie.
I think this is exactly what was needed. Fox had Frank Luntz on with one of his focus groups. They were people who were undecided, but with half Kerry voters and half Bush voters from 2004. Nearly all of them called it a win for Palin. The bottom line is, when people see the real Sarah Palin, they love her.
I intend to post more on this over the next few days. I want to digest the debate and take a look at what some others are saying about it. For now though, Sarah Palin won. There’s no doubt about it. When Joe Biden talks about people sitting around their kitchen table, he thinks they’re talking about what the government is going to do to help them from the standpoint of some new program or policy. The truth is what those people at the kitchen table want to know is when are they going to get the hell out of the way.
